The Coeur d'Alene Tribe has had a robust Geographic Information System (GIS) program since 1992.  The Tribe uses GIS, GPS, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS, i.e. drone) technology to collect, store and analyze information about the lands and waters it has traditionally used.  Information is collected for environmental, social, and cultural geographic features.  At this time, over 1,000 different data sets are stored on the Tribe's GIS servers.<\/font><\/p>

In 2012, our GIS staff first implemented ArcGIS Online<\/b> to share data and maps over the internet.  ArcGIS Online provides web and mobile access to maps and up-to-date information from anywhere.  It enables collaborating with others on projects, as maps can be easily shared, edited and customized.  In 2014, the GIS team rolled out its Portal for ArcGIS<\/b>, similar to ArcGIS Online but managed locally on tribal servers, to host all of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's internet mapping applications.<\/font><\/p>
